Eric Edwards has over 25 years total experience in gold mining and exploration holding a number of positions in operations, business development and corporate finance.
Mr. Edwards was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Lupaka Gold Corp. in January 2011. Prior to that, Mr. Edwards was Chief Financial Officer of Andean Resources Limited, acquired by Goldcorp in December 2010. Mr. Edwards held the position of President and CEO of Ventura Gold Corp. and successfully completed the sale and transition of Ventura to International Minerals Corporation, closing in January 2010.
Mr. Edwards served as Vice President Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of Queenstake Resources Ltd. where he coordinated the public process and eventual merger of Queenstake with YGC Resources to form Yukon Nevada Gold Corporation. Over the past 15 years, Mr. Edwards has been Chief Financial Officer for a number of publicly traded gold companies including Viceroy Resource Corporation and Ivanhoe Mines. Mr. Edwards was the CFO for Ivanhoe Mines during the time that the company completed the initial public offering raising over $C 275.0 million. Mr. Edwards has completed a number of acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, equity placements, project recourse facilities and corporate bridge facilities.
Mr. Edwards has held a number of operating positions including; Kinross Gold at Fort Knox Mine in Alaska, NERCO Con Mine in Yellowknife, NWT, and AngloGold Jerrritt Canyon Mine in Nevada. Mr. Edwards was the General Manager at the TVX Gold Mineral Hill Mine in Montana before transferring to a corporate business development role for TVX Gold.
Mr. Edwards holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from University of Utah and a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in Geology from Utah State University.
Darryl F. Jones, CA, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Jones is a CA with a wealth of experience in publicly traded companies. Most recently he was CFO with Corriente Resources for 7 years and was a key member of the management team which negotiated and closed the May 2010 cash sale of Corriente to CRCC-Tongguan Investment (Canada) Co., Ltd for approximately $680 million.
Mr. Castañeda is a geologist with more than 29 years of experience in exploration and exploration management. He is the former Regional Manager for Golden Minerals in Peru and Mexico. He has also held senior positions with Barrick Gold and Hochschild Mining.
Carlos Yrigoyen, Country Manager, Peru
Mr. Yrigoyen is a mining industry professional who has been involved with many Peruvian and Canadian major and small-cap mining companies over a 30-year career. Mr. Yrigoyen was recently the treasury controller and head of special projects at Nyrstar Peru and has previous experience as controller with Zaruma Resources, Breakwater Resources, Santa Cruz Gold Inc. and Macdonald mines.
David Matousek, Manager, Investor Relations
Mr. Matousek has experience working in finance and investor relations capacities for public companies focusing on gold exploration and development.
Javier Garcia, B.Eng., M.A.Sc., Technical Advisor
Mr. Garcia completed his bachelor degree in Peru in Industrial Engineering and has a master degree in mining processing at UBC. He worked for Yanacocha prior to moving to Canada and has a good understanding of and good relationships within the mining sector in Peru. Since 2007, he has been working with Gordon Ellis on a variety of mining exploration projects.
Brian King, CGA, Controller
Mr. King has over 15 years of experience as a controller in the junior mining space. Most recently he was controller with Corriente Resources.
Kathy Scales, Corporate Secretary
Ms. Scales has worked for several public companies in the capacity of corporate secretary and was with Gold Group Mining prior to her current role.
